While PULSE!-ing around Blog-o-space on my trusty iPhone, I landed on Contemporist: An architecture and interior design blog focused on "new products and projects in the world of contemporary design." Since I already cracked open the Art as Architecture seal, I thought I would sit petty and feature some of the items that brighten our lives, starting with Noon Studio's Steel Stool.
Megan O'halloran Design has released their first collection of chairs and bar stools "drawing inspiration from the opening petals of a flower bud in a remix of art nouveau and mid-century modern styles."
Lighting
When it comes to lighting, check out Evie Group and their collection of Spun lamps. Inspired by the wooden spinning tops of yesteryear, they look great right side up, upside down or just laying on the floor. Here's a top your mom won't make you pick up.
The Crane Lamp by American designer Matt Downer, uses Light Emitting Diodes, carefully picked wood and a flare for the orient to bring us these awesome pieces of functional art.
Finally, for our friend's across the pond, we present PINCH by Russel Pinch. Founded in 2004 and working from studios in London, PINCH hand-makes their pieces to order. Their extensive award winning collection is available to the public and on display in their London showroom.
